During the 20th century, Icelandic society was completely transformed from an agricultural community to one of the most advanced nations in the world. The exhibition Children Throughout a Century explores the dramatic changes to society through the eyes of children. Designed by artist Snorri Freyr Hilmarsson, the exhibition consists of severeal different components; Photos of children and their surroundings through the century, toys, and other objects. The crowning jewel of the exhibition is an authentic example of an early 20th century baðstofa (The baðstofa was the heart of Icelandic homes, where people ate, slept and worked, all together in the same room). The exhibition offers visitors a chance to take a heart-warming stroll through history as seen hrough the eyes of children and families.
